Credit Karma Wins Gold at the Edison Awards

I’m excited to announce that last week, Credit Karma won a gold medal in the Financial Services/Banking division at the 2015 Edison Awards, which recognize innovation. It put us on an esteemed list of winners, alongside global giants like Gillette, LG, Pepsi, Yahoo and Hilton. To get this award, Credit Karma was evaluated by a large and varied pool of judges – more than 3,000 people, including top business executives, past award winners and academics, alongside leaders and experts in product development, marketing and design.

Since 1987, the Edison Awards have honored “game-changing” products that have made a “significant and lasting contribution to innovation.” Given everything that Credit Karma set out to do when we launched our platform in 2008 – give our members free access to credit scores and reports, re-engineer consumer finance and bring transparency to an industry that badly needed it – this award is testament to the industry impact that we’ve made so far.

With over 35 million members, approximately one-in-six Americans with a credit profile have a Credit Karma account now. Our team is almost 300-strong. I couldn’t be more proud of everything we’ve achieved to date, building a platform to educate and empower consumers to take control of their financial health.

We’re far from finished, though. Late last year, we expanded our platform to become the first company to offer free, weekly updated credit scores and reports from two major credit bureaus. Last week, we became the first company to offer people without a credit score free, weekly updated access to their credit reports. We’ll continue to push ourselves every day on behalf of consumers to bring transparency and simplicity to personal finance.

A big thank you to everyone at Credit Karma who works so hard each day to make our product as good as it is.

Best,
Kenneth Lin
