Bank of America’s Museums On Us Review

Bank of America scores points for a cool privilege no other issuer offers: free admission to over 100 museums nationwide. Bank of America’s Museums on Us program has been around for over a decade but is still going strong with newly-announced dates for 2010. In the competitive credit card world where cash back, airline miles, travel packages, and gift rewards can confuse consumers and make it harder to decide which card is best, Bank of America offers a unique touch of culture as a perk.

Museums on Us gives any Bank of America cardholder free admission to over 100 museums through 74 cities in 27 states on the first full weekend of every month, now through September 2010. You don’t have to pay or even open a new account to be part of this rewards program. Every Bank of America cardholder can flash their card and treat themselves to a free day of arts and culture, zoos, and science centers.

The program is actually quite expansive and covers some of the best cultural venues on both coasts. This is a free opportunity to spend a leisurely Saturday or Sunday visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art or Bronx Zoo in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the de Young and Legion of Honor in San Francisco, the Discovery Science Center in Orange County, and more across the country.

Other issuers may follow suit this year and diversify their credit card offerings in order to grab the attention of new consumers as well as reward loyal cardholders. The Chase Sapphire Card’s Ultimate Rewards offers luxury travel packages that include scuba diving or theme park attractions, but you have to be approved for the ultra-exclusive card; Museums on Us is free for any BofA customer. If you are already a BofA customer, be sure to take advantage of this distinctive cardholder perk; if you’re a non-cardholder but a cultural connoisseur, this incentive might be enough reason to switch.
