The Government and The Bank–neither are exactly the most beloved public entities, but banks may surprisingly pull ahead of the government amongst consumer opinions.
CNN Money reports that more banks have boosted aid to troubled homeowners, doing twice as many loan modifications under their foreclose prevention programs than the Obama administration’s highly-publicized, nationwide Home Affordable Modification program, aka HAMP. Both were criticized for not doing more to help underwater homeowners struggling with the recession’s high rates of foreclosure. Maybe a little teamwork and cooperation between both parties would really help pull up the housing market.
