The Nerds Behind Credit Karma: Ian

This week, we decided to interview Ian, one of our software developers. Apparently Ian has promised to bring in a guitar and sing a song for the Credit Karma team sometime. That hasn’t happened yet, but I’m wondering whether he’d play something for us if I randomly brought in one of my guitars to the office…

What’s your title at Credit Karma?
Describe in 25 words or less what you do.
I write the code that makes the site run.
How long have you worked at CK?
Since September. Man, it seems longer!
What’s your favorite thing about working at CK?
Our product helps people understand their credit and improve their lives. Plus, we have a really fun, smart team.
What’s your favorite snack in the CK kitchen?
Gonna have to go with the almonds and bubble water.
What is something your coworkers probably don’t know about you?
I’m a pretty good cook and my favorite food is the egg.
What was your worst subject in elementary school?
I was awesome at everything back then!
What’s a secret (or not-so-secret) talent you have?
I like to write music and occasionally perform at open mic events when I get the chance.
If you could pick any superhero power, what would it be and why?
I’d want Squirrel Girl’s power. The power to control squirrels– that one speaks for itself.
What’s your best credit/money tip?
Don’t bite off more than you can chew and don’t treat credit cards as free money! Pay those things off every month!
